Before You Go: Learn How To Dutch Braid Your Own Hair

The main difference between a French braid and a Dutch braid is that with a French braid you’re crossing sections of your hair over one another, while with a Dutch braid you’ll be crossing sections of your hair underneath. Here’s how:

• Step 1: To create one large Dutch braid down the center of your head, gather a section from your front hairline.

• Step 2: Split the section into three equal strands. Cross the left strand under the middle strand, then cross the right strand under the new middle strand.

• Step 3: Add a thin section of hair to the left strand before crossing it under the middle one. Do the same for the right side.

• Step 4: Continue adding thin strands of hair to the left and right strands before crossing them under the middle one until you reach the nape of your neck.

NOTE: If you decide to do a Dutch braided half-up or ponytail, just skip the part where you add thin sections of your hair to the left and right strands.

Congrats, you’ve done it!
